Year in Perspective: Nebraska

Let me start by saying I was a little disappointed with the Huskers this year. Never before has an 8-4 season been so misleading to me. Looking at the games played Nebraska started off hot and Bo was deemed the savior of Husker football, yet with a nonconference schedule of nobodies I was a little skeptical. Virgina Tech was going to be the game that put Nebraska back in the top 25 but what soon happened was a loss on home field. Seemed like Nebraska was in for another long season. After all was said and done the season was highlighted by a blowout loss to Missouri and Oklahoma with wins over Iowa St, Kansas, Baylor, Kansas St and Colorado. The best win was against an overrated Kansas team and Colorado and Baylor took Nebraska down to the wire in Lincoln so you can see why I think the 8-4 record is misleading. This does not mean that I think Bo was a bad hire, by no means. The Husker defense was supposed to be a weakness this year but that was quickly turned around and will only improve. The NT Suh became a sack machine under Pelini and if he decides not to go to the League the Huskers should be pretty dominate up front next season. The offense will be interesting because when Bo came in it was thought that he would go back to the old Husker offense by pounding the football. Looking at the recruits coming in it looks like he is slowly taking the program in that direction. RB Helu burst onto the scene and will be Nebraska's main guy next season. He has explosive speed but needs to work on his patience. What to watch for in the Gator Bowl will be Neb offense vs. the Clemson defense. My prediction is Huskers by 10 with a dominating run game.

Year in Perspective: Baylor

What an exciting year for Baylor football! The Guy Morris era is dead and the Art Briles era is just dawning. Coach Briles was hired this time last year from Houston and brought with him a new attitude and a play maker that goes by the name of Robert Griffin. As the youngest quarterback in the NCAA Griffin finished his freshman campaign by being named to the Freshmen All-American team and is already being mentioned for next year's Heisman watch list. Griffin led an electrifying triple option zone-read offense that was anchored by a very talented O-Line.
Briles came in saying that he would return Baylor's run game and that he did by doubling the team's run production in just his first year. The year was highlighted by wins against Iowa State and a very dominating win over Texas A&M. Baylor's record could easily be flipped if this young team could have pulled off close losses against Nebraska (32-20), Missouri (31-28), Texas Tech and Connecticut. Baylor has proved they are on the rise and that has been evident in recent recruiting. With the building of the brand new Highers Athletic Facility Baylor now has the facilities that can compete with any school in the nation. I will talk about what Baylor football has to look forward to next season and recruiting in a later blog. Next up...Nebraska.

Hello World

I decided to join the blogging world because I did not think that there were enough unqualified persons giving out their thoughts and opinions to the general public. I will be spending a lot of time venting when it comes to football and anything athletic. I am a huge Baylor fan so most of my posts will be reguarding Baylor football and basketball. I also grew up a big Nebraska fan so I will also provide my thoughts about Husker football. Here we go...
